The Wine
The 2007 Warre’s Vintage Port is a magnificent expression from one of the oldest and most respected Port houses in the Douro. The vintage was marked by near-perfect growing conditions, resulting in wines of remarkable purity, balance, and power. Warre’s style — elegant, floral, and slightly drier than some of its peers — shines in this vintage, offering both immediate drinking pleasure and decades of aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of violets, cassis, black cherry, and liquorice with hints of dark chocolate and spice.
Palate: Rich and full-bodied, displaying layers of blackberry, plum, and fig supported by fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. The texture is velvety, showing both structure and grace in perfect proportion.
Finish: Exceptionally long and persistent, with echoes of black fruit, spice, and dried rose petals — a hallmark of Warre’s signature elegance.
Producer Details
Founded in 1670, Warre’s is the oldest British Port house and part of the Symington Family Estates. Known for producing wines of balance and floral complexity, Warre’s sources grapes primarily from the renowned Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro vineyards in the Upper Douro. Their Ports are celebrated for their restrained sweetness, refined tannins, and long-lived structure.
