The Wine

The 1997 Taylor’s Vintage Port is a magnificent expression of the house’s hallmark power and elegance. Declared in a year marked by ideal harvest conditions, this wine reflects Taylor’s classic structure, depth, and capacity for long-term aging. Now over two decades old, it is maturing beautifully, offering both primary fruit and complex tertiary notes.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep and aromatic, with notes of blackberry, black cherry, fig, violets, liquorice, and hints of spice and eucalyptus.

Palate: Full-bodied and rich, yet refined, with velvety tannins and flavours of plum, cassis, dark chocolate, and clove. The wine shows both youthful fruit and evolving layers of dried fruit and balsamic complexity.

Finish: Long with lingering notes of black fruit, spice, and mint, supported by a firm yet integrated structure.
