Vintage: 2020 | Classification: AOC Côte-Rôtie

The Wine

The 2020 Pierre Gaillard Côte-Rôtie is a stunning representation of this steep, schist-laden appellation—graceful yet powerful, layered yet lifted. Sourced from prime parcels in the Côte Blonde and Côte Brune, Gaillard’s Côte-Rôtie captures the essence of Northern Rhône Syrah: perfumed, precise, and enduring.

A warmer vintage, 2020 offers ripe fruit, silky tannins, and depth without excess—highlighting Gaillard’s gift for balance and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Expressive aromas of violet, black cherry, crushed blackberry, incense, and smoked meat, with floral lift from the Viognier.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with satin-like tannins and vibrant acidity. Black fruits, plum, graphite, and spice intertwine with savoury notes of olive and herbs.

Finish: Long, poised, and mineral-driven, with lingering dark fruit and a refined smoky edge.
