The Wine
Olivier Leflaive Meursault 2017 is a beautifully expressive white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated appellations. Meursault is renowned for producing Chardonnay with a distinctive combination of richness freshness.
The 2017 vintage offers a particularly attractive balance between ripe fruit and lively acidity. Now entering a more mature phase, the wine shows increasing savoury and nutty complexity alongside its generous orchard-fruit character. Ripe pear and golden apple are complemented by citrus, almond, hazelnut and subtle mineral notes, while the texture is rounded and creamy without losing its freshness.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Elegant aromas of ripe pear, golden apple and citrus combine with white flowers, almond, hazelnut and subtle vanilla and mineral notes.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with a rich, creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavours of baked apple, lemon curd, pear, toasted almond and gentle spice develop across the palate.
Finish: Long and refined, with lingering citrus, roasted nuts, mineral freshness and a subtle savoury character.
Producer Details
Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy’s highly regarded négociant-producers, based in Puligny-Montrachet and specialising in wines from across the Côte de Beaune. The domaine is particularly respected for its Chardonnay, with an emphasis on expressing the character of Burgundy’s individual appellations while combining richness with precision and balance.
Meursault is one of the great white-wine villages of Burgundy, traditionally producing Chardonnay with greater breadth and richness, often accompanied by characteristic hazelnut, almond, stone-fruit and mineral complexity.
Wine Details
Vinification: Fermented and matured in French oak, allowing the wine to develop greater texture and complexity while retaining the freshness characteristic of Meursault.
