The Wine

Maison Louis Jadot’s Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru La Romanée 2017 is an elegant and refined white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated appellations. Chassagne-Montrachet is renowned for producing Chardonnay with a combination of richness, mineral precision and remarkable longevity, and La Romanée is a Premier Cru capable of producing wines of considerable depth and finesse.

The 2017 vintage offers an attractive balance of ripe fruit, freshness and texture. With several years of bottle age, the wine is developing greater complexity while retaining its youthful energy. Aromas and flavours of citrus, white peach and pear are complemented by hazelnut, almond, subtle vanilla and a distinctive mineral character. The palate is generous  but remains focused by bright acidity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Refined aromas of white peach, pear, lemon zest and citrus blossom mingle with toasted almond, hazelnut, vanilla and subtle mineral notes.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with a rich, silky texture and beautifully balanced acidity. Flavours of ripe pear, peach and citrus develop alongside almond, hazelnut, gentle oak and chalky minerality.

Finish: Long, fresh and elegant, with lingering citrus, stone fruit, toasted nuts and a persistent mineral character.

Producer Details

Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most respected négociant houses, with an extensive portfolio of wines from prestigious appellations throughout the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The house places strong emphasis on expressing the individual character of Burgundy’s vineyards while maintaining precision, balance and elegance.

Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the great white-wine villages of Burgundy, producing Chardonnay that combines richness and breadth with the mineral freshness characteristic of the Côte de Beaune. The Premier Cru vineyards add additional depth, structure and ageing potential.
