The 2012 Monier de la Sizeranne from M. Chapoutier is a refined, age-worthy expression of Hermitage Syrah.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of blackberry, black olive, and smoked meat, , black pepper, and blackcurrant.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with structured tannins and vibrant acidity. Layers of dark fruit, graphite, and savoury herbs.
Finish: Long and focused, with lingering notes of blackcurrant and spice.

Michel Chapoutier is one of the most respected names in the Rhône Valley, known for his commitment to biodynamic farming, single-vineyard expressions, and transparency of terroir. The Monier de la Sizeranne cuvée honors the legacy of Maurice de la Sizeranne, a historic figure of Hermitage, and reflects the varied soils of the hill in a balanced, classical style.
Wine Details:
Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes; fermented in open concrete vats; aged 12–14 months in French oak barrels (20–30% new)
Alcohol Content: Approx. 13.5% ABV
Cellaring: Drinking well now with decanting; will develop greater complexity through 2030+
Drinking Window:
Approachable with aeration, especially from 2022 onward. At its best from 2024 to 2032.
