Domaine de Montille, Bourgogne Blanc "Le Clos du Château" 2019

Producer: Domaine de Montille | Appellation: Bourgogne, Burgundy, France
Classification: Regional White Burgundy (Monopole Clos)
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Vintage: 2019 | Drinking Window: 2023–2030 | Aging Potential: 7–10 years

The 2019 Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Blanc "Le Clos du Château" is a superb expression of Chardonnay from a walled monopole vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet. Although officially a Bourgogne Blanc, this wine offers the elegance and minerality more often associated with its prestigious neighbours in the Côte de Beaune.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Bright and refined, offering aromas of white peach, lemon curd with hints of toasted almond and flint.

Palate: Elegant and balanced supported by fresh acidity. Flavours of White peach, toasted almonds. Flint adds a complexity to this wine.

Finish: Long and graceful, with a stony precision.

Producer Details:

Domaine de Montille, a benchmark producer in Volnay and across the Côte d’Or, is known for its commitment to biodynamic farming and restrained, terroir-first winemaking. Under Étienne de Montille, the domaine has become one of Burgundy’s most respected estates.

"Le Clos du Château" is a unique monopole vineyard enclosed by stone walls adjacent to the château in Puligny-Montrachet. Despite its Bourgogne classification, the wine captures a distinctly Puligny style — elegant, mineral, and age-worthy.
