The Wine

The 2003 Clos des Papes is a rich, powerful interpretation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a famously hot and dry vintage. Despite the extremes of the growing season, Clos des Papes maintained balance and freshness by careful vineyard management and restrained winemaking. The result is a deeply concentrated wine with warmth, generous fruit, and surprising structure—fully expressive of both terroir and vintage.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Lush and ripe, with aromas of black cherry, stewed plum, liquorice and warm earth.

Palate: Full-bodied and opulent, with layers of dark fruit, dried fig and cocoa. The tannins are supple yet present, supporting the wine's richness and lending balance to its natural warmth.

Finish: Long and expansive, with a savoury edge of spice, leather, and dried herbs that persists gracefully.
