The Wine

The 2001 Clos des Papes is a monumental Châteauneuf-du-Pape—an iconic vintage from one of the region’s most revered producers. Hailed for its balance, concentration, and aging potential, this wine exemplifies the estate's commitment to traditional winemaking and low yields. Two decades on, it remains vibrant, complex, and deeply expressive.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromatic with notes of ripe black cherry,  leather, dried fig, liquorice, and crushed stones.

Palate: Full-bodied and silky, showing evolved flavours of blackberry, plum, smoked meat, dried herbs, and spice. Tannins are refined, acidity still fresh, and the texture remarkably seamless.

Finish: Long, savoury, and multi-layered with lingering hints of black olive, truffle, and warm earth.
