The Wine
Tasting Notes
Nose: Intense aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and cigar box.
Palate: Full-bodied and powerful, with a dense core of dark fruit framed by firm, finely structured tannins. Notes of cocoa, leather, crushed stone, and spice provide exceptional complexity.
Finish: Exceptionally long, layered, and persistent, with profound mineral character and savoury depth.

Château Montrose is one of Saint-Estèphe’s greatest estates, known for producing deeply structured, long-lived wines from its gravel-rich vineyards near the Gironde estuary. The estate’s rigorous standards and terroir-driven approach consistently place it among Bordeaux’s elite.
Wine Details
Vinification: Fermented in temperature-controlled vats; aged approximately 18 months in French oak barrels (around 60% new)
Alcohol Content: ~13% ABV
Cellaring: Drinking superbly now with extended decanting, but will continue evolving through 2055+
