The Wine

The 2011 Château Léoville Barton is a classic expression of Saint-Julien, reflecting the estate’s reputation for structure, elegance, and longevity. 


Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, cedar, and graphite, lifted by hints of tobacco and spice.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with firm tannins supporting layers of cassis, blackberry, and cherry. Savoury notes of leather, herbs, and pencil shavings add complexity.

Finish: Persistent and structured, with classic Left Bank minerality and freshness that promises graceful aging.


Producer Details

Classified as a Second Growth in 1855, Château Léoville Barton is one of the most historic and respected estates in Saint-Julien. Owned by the Barton family since 1826, the château is renowned for producing traditionally styled Bordeaux: elegant, structured, and age-worthy, with a strong expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.


Wine Details

Vinification: Traditional vinification in stainless steel and wooden vats; aged in French oak barrels (around 60% new) for 18 months
Alcohol Content: ~13% ABV
Cellaring: Approachable from 2018 but best between 2022–2040 for peak maturity
