The 2004 Château La Fleur Morange is a quietly impressive right bank Bordeaux, offering depth and complexity. From a cooler vintage that favoured finesse over power, this wine showcases the estate’s commitment to low yields.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of dried cherry, plum, and fig, layered with tobacco leaf.
Palate: Medium-bodied and finely textured. Red and black fruit mingle with savoury notes—graphite and leather follow.
Finish: Long, with lingering notes of dark fruits and cigar box.
Producer Details:
Château La Fleur Morange is a small, family-run estate located on the clay-limestone slopes of Saint-Pey-d’Armens, just outside Saint-Émilion. Founded by Jean-François Julien, the estate is known for its extremely old vines (some over 100 years old) and handcrafted production. Each vintage reflects an artisanal approach focused on concentration, precision, and age-worthiness.
Wine Details:
Vinification: Manual harvest, rigorous sorting; fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging in 100% new French oak for 18–24 months
Alcohol Content: Approx. 13.0% ABV
Cellaring: Fully mature now but holding strong—ideal through 2030
Drinking Window:
At its peak, with mature tertiary notes emerging. Decanting recommended to awaken aromatic complexity.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
A refined partner for slow-cooked lamb, duck breast, mushroom and truffle risotto, or aged Comté.
