The Wine

Château Gazin 2009 is a superb expression of Pomerol, combining the appellation's trademark richness and sensual texture with the remarkable concentration and harmony of this highly regarded vintage. Situated on the famed plateau of Pomerol, neighbouring some of the region's most celebrated estates, Gazin consistently produces wines of depth, elegance, and impressive longevity.

The 2009 displays a captivating balance of power and refinement. Tasting Notes

Nose: Expressive aromas of black cherry, plum, and cassis intertwine with notes of truffle, cedar, cocoa, violets, and sweet spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and velvety, with layers of ripe dark fruits framed by fine-grained tannins. Hints of mocha, tobacco, liquorice, and earthy minerality add complexity and depth.

Finish: Long, supple, and elegant, with lingering impressions of dark fruit, spice, and classic Pomerol richness.


Producer Details

Château Gazin is one of Pomerol's historic estates, with a history dating back to the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem. The estate's vineyards occupy an enviable position on the Pomerol plateau, where clay and gravel soils provide ideal conditions for Merlot. Gazin has earned a reputation for producing wines that combine generosity with structure and age-worthiness.


Wine Details

Vinification: Fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats; aged approximately 18 months in French oak barrels (around 50% new)
Alcohol Content: ~14–14.5% ABV
Cellaring: Drinking beautifully now with decanting, while retaining the structure to evolve gracefully through 2045+
