The Wine
Château du Tertre is one of Margaux's most historic classified growths, with origins dating back to the 12th century. Renowned for producing elegant, aromatic wines, the estate's exceptional gravel terroir and meticulous vineyard management consistently deliver wines that reflect the finesse and charm of the Margaux appellation.
The 2004 vintage has evolved beautifully, offering a classic expression of mature Left Bank Bordeaux. Graceful and harmonious, it combines vibrant cassis and red berry fruit with refined tertiary notes of cedar, tobacco, and forest floor. Now in an excellent drinking window, it is a sophisticated and rewarding wine that showcases the enduring appeal of well-aged Margaux.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fragrant aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, blackberry, violet, cedar, cigar box, and graphite, with hints of leather and woodland spice.
Palate: Medium-bodied with silky, well-integrated tannins. Layers of cassis, plum, and red berry fruit are complemented by notes of tobacco, cocoa, cedar, and crushed stone, delivering impressive balance and elegance.
Finish: Long, refined, and persistent, with lingering floral notes, cedar, and classic Margaux minerality.
