The Wine

The 2016 Château de Fieuzal is a beautifully balanced and expressive Pessac-Léognan from one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated modern vintages. Combining ripe fruit concentration with freshness and precision, this wine captures the estate’s contemporary, polished style while retaining classical Graves structure. Elegant yet powerful, it is a standout example of the 2016 vintage.


Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, and dark cherry, layered with notes of graphite, cedar, tobacco, and subtle smoky nuances.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with a refined texture and a core of ripe dark fruit framed by fine, well-integrated tannins. Flavours of cocoa, espresso, and savoury spice add depth and complexity.

Finish: Long, clean, and precise, with lingering mineral, spice, and fresh fruit notes.

Château de Fieuzal is one of Pessac-Léognan’s leading Cru Classé estates, known for producing wines that combine power, elegance, and terroir expression. Under the ownership of Brenda and Loïc Lurton, the château has gained international recognition for its meticulous vineyard management and refined, modern winemaking approach.

Vinification: Fermented in temperature-controlled vats; aged approximately 14–18 months in French oak barrels (around 40–50% new)
Alcohol Content: ~13.5–14% ABV
Cellaring: Approachable now with decanting, but will continue to evolve gracefully through 2045+
