The Wine
Château de Beaucastel is one of the benchmark estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, famed for its traditional winemaking and use of all 13 permitted grape varieties. The 2012 vintage produced wines of balance, charm, and approachability.
The 2012 Beaucastel Rouge offers a wonderful expression of the estate’s style—combining ripe fruit, savoury complexity, and refined structure, with Mourvèdre contributing depth and ageing potential.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry layered with garrigue herbs, pepper, leather, and hints of spice.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with a supple yet structured texture. Dark fruit is complemented by notes of liquorice, olive tapenade, and earthy spice, supported by fine tannins.
Finish: Long, savoury, and balanced, with lingering herb, spice, and mineral notes.

Owned by the Perrin family, Château de Beaucastel is one of the most respected estates in the Southern Rhône. Known for its commitment to traditional practices, including whole-cluster fermentation and ageing in large oak foudres, the estate produces wines of character and longevity.
