The Wine

The 2005 Château de Beaucastel is a profound and age-worthy Châteauneuf-du-Pape from one of the appellation’s most legendary producers. In a vintage noted for its structure, balance, and aging potential, Beaucastel crafted a wine of remarkable depth and poise, where power meets finesse. With its hallmark use of all 13 permitted grape varieties and a high proportion of Mourvèdre, this wine offers both typicity and distinction.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Complex and savoury, with aromas of blackcurrant, dried fig, leather, truffle and smoked meat.

Palate: Full-bodied and firmly structured, showing dark fruit, blackberry compote, black olive, and earthy spice. The tannins are muscular yet polished, complemented by vibrant acidity and underlying minerality.

Finish: Long, layered, and persistent with notes of game, dried herbs, and subtle liquorice.
