The Wine
The 2019 Château Cantemerle is a superb example of this Fifth Growth’s rising quality, offering depth, polish, and approachability in an excellent Bordeaux vintage. Harmonious and well-structured, it balances ripe fruit concentration with freshness and elegance, making it both enjoyable in youth and rewarding with cellaring.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle spice.
Palate: Medium-to-full bodied, with a refined core of dark fruits, supple tannins, and well-integrated oak. Hints of cocoa, liquorice, and earthy minerality add depth.
Finish: Smooth, persistent, and well-balanced, with lingering dark fruit and gentle spice.

Founded in the 12th century, Château Cantemerle is one of Bordeaux’s oldest estates and has been classified as a Fifth Growth since 1855. Located at the southern end of the Haut-Médoc, the château benefits from gravelly soils and a strong commitment to quality, producing wines known for elegance, reliability, and age-worthiness.
