The Wine

The 2017 Château Batailley is a classic and finely structured Pauillac, shaped by a challenging vintage that ultimately favoured estates with strong terroirs and meticulous vineyard management. Batailley delivered a wine of balance, freshness, and traditional restraint, showcasing graphite-laced Cabernet fruit, refined tannins, and excellent ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, and blackberry, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle spice.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with a focused core of dark fruit framed by firm yet polished tannins. Hints of pencil lead, earth, and savoury herbs add depth and complexity.

Finish: Long, precise, and classically styled, with lingering dark fruit, mineral, and oak notes.
