The 2008 Château Batailley is a classically styled Pauillac—structured, elegant, and quietly powerful.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, dried herbs, and cedar, with underlying notes of graphite, violet, and leather.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with a fresh core of dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and subtle oak influence.
Finish: Long and layered, marked by notes of tobacco leaf, cassis, and gravelly minerality.
Producer Details:
Château Batailley, one of the oldest estates in Pauillac, is known for producing reliably classic claret with a strong sense of place. Owned by the Borie-Manoux family, the château sits on excellent deep gravel soils, which contribute to its wines’ structure and aging potential.
Wine Details:

Alcohol Content: Approx. 13.0% ABV
Cellaring: Drinking beautifully now; optimal through 2030+
Drinking Window:
Approaching peak maturity with developed aromatics and softened tannins. Decant for 45–60 minutes to open fully.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Excellent with ribeye steak, roast duck, lamb shanks, or earthy mushroom-based dishes.
