The Wine
Château Batailley is one of Pauillac's most respected classified growths, admired for producing wines that consistently embody the classic character of the appellation. The estate's gravel-rich vineyards and traditional winemaking approach result in wines of structure, elegance, and impressive longevity.
The 2006 vintage has developed into a beautifully balanced and expressive Pauillac. Combining vibrant cassis fruit with the estate's signature notes of cedar, graphite, and cigar box, it offers excellent depth without sacrificing finesse. Now entering an excellent stage of maturity, it displays the complexity and harmony that collectors seek from mature Left Bank Bordeaux.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, cigar box, graphite, and dried herbs, complemented by hints of leather and sweet spice.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with refined, well-integrated tannins. Layers of cassis, dark cherry, and plum are supported by notes of tobacco, cocoa, pencil lead, and subtle mineral freshness.
Finish: Long, elegant, and persistent, with lingering cedar, spice, and classic Pauillac character.
