The Wine
The 2017 Penfolds Bin 150 is a distinctive expression of Barossa Valley Shiraz, sourced specifically from the subregion of Marananga, known for its rich, ironstone soils and powerful fruit character.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of blackberry compote, dark plum, and blueberry, laced with anise and exotic spice. Subtle hints of vanilla and cedar from oak integration.
Palate: Full-bodied and deeply concentrated, with layers of black fruit, cocoa and earthy undertones. The tannins are ripe and assertive, providing definition and length without overwhelming the palate.
Finish: Long, plush, and spiced, with lingering notes of dark chocolate, and savoury herbs.
Producer Details
Founded in 1844, Penfolds is one of Australia’s most iconic and internationally recognized wineries. The Bin series represents Penfolds' commitment to regional and subregional expression, and Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz, introduced in 2008, has become a standout in the range.
Combining traditional Penfolds winemaking techniques—including fermentation in both stainless steel and oak—with fruit from some of the Barossa’s most prized plots, Bin 150 offers a wine of both power and poise.

Food Pairing Suggestions
This is a great BBQ wine, and would go well with a well made Beef burger or with a Brisket Burger.
