The Wine
This 2013 Rioja Gran Reserva, selected by The Wine Society, represents a classic expression of traditional Rioja winemaking. Produced in a cooler, Atlantic-influenced vintage, the wine shows elegance, freshness, and exceptional ageing potential.
Extended maturation in American oak followed by long bottle ageing has resulted in a wine of refined complexity and balance. In magnum format, it benefits from slower evolution, offering even greater longevity and finesse.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of red cherry, dried strawberry, and cranberry layered with vanilla, coconut, cedar, tobacco, and sweet spice.
Palate: Medium-bodied and silky, with vibrant red fruit supported by fine tannins. Notes of leather, clove, cocoa, and subtle balsamic nuances add depth.
Finish: Long, smooth, and harmonious, with lingering spice, dried fruit, and refined oak character.
